Patrick F. McNicol – Obituary – Mahoning Valley
May 27, 1929 – May 23, 2021 (91 years old)
COLUMBIANA – Patrick F. McNicol, 91, formerly of East Liverpool, died Sunday May 23 at Salem North Healthcare.
Mr. McNicol was born on May 27, 1929 in East Liverpool, son of Harold and Artie Leigh McNicol.
After graduating from St. Aloysius Elementary School in 1943 and from East Liverpool High School in 1947, Mr. McNicol served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict in the Occupying Army in Germany.
Patrick graduated from Ohio Valley Business College in 1956 and used his training while working in IT for 30 years as a computer programmer for Crucible Steel in Midland, Pennsylvania, retiring in 1982.
After retiring, he decided to continue his education at Ohio Valley Business College from 1983 to 1984 and return to work at East Liverpool City Hospital in Information Services from 1984 to 1992, then to the East Liverpool Area Old Timers Baseball Association. Baseball field complex under maintenance from 1997 to 2003. He then worked at Hill International in parts delivery from 2003 to May 2009.
Mr. McNicol was a member of St. Jude’s Roman Catholic Church, Columbiana, and the East Liverpool Area Old Timers Baseball Organization.
He had coached Little League East Liverpool aged 11 to 12 for 13 years.
He was also supportive and active with his family in the many activities they participated in and enjoyed every minute with them including his grandchildren as well as his special friend Roberta Allen.
Golf had become a favorite for him later in his life and he especially enjoyed playing with his family and special friends George Summers and the Boley Brothers at Beaver Creek Meadows, his favorite golf course.
Patrick really appreciated his family and all the time he could spend with them. The most important and most important gift to him is his wife, Joan R. McNicol, who predeceased him on August 12, 2010. In Patrick’s eyes, Joan made everything possible, including all the happiness that ‘he experienced.
Patrick is survived by his sons Jeffrey B. McNicol of Lawrenceville, Ga., Patrick J. (Jill) McNicol of Leetonia and Dale F. (Tiffany) McNicol of Sugar Hill, Ga; daughters Terri M. (Rick) Schuck of Buford, GA, and Kathy C. (Kenneth) Campbell of East Liverpool; one sister, Bonnie A. LaScola of East Liverpool; grandsons Aaron Schuck, Zachary Campbell, Jared McNicol, Henry “Hank” McNicol, Vincent McNicol, Vance McNicol, Jason Campbell, Neil Campbell, Gavin Lynch and Garret Lynch; granddaughters Stefanie Schuck, Stacie Campbell, Margaret “Meg” McNicol and August Lynch; and great-grandchildren Jamison McNicol, Kendall Campbell and Madison Campbell.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was predeceased by a sister, Grace C. McNicol; the brothers James V. McNicol, Ralph B. McNicol, Richard T. McNicol, Robert D. McNicol, Harold “Mike” McNicol and Joseph L. McNicol; and grandchildren Abigail McNicol, Adam McNicol and Anthony McNicol.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 28 at 1 p.m. at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana, with Deacon Christopher Evans. Friends can call the funeral home from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Interment will take place at Columbiana County Memorial Park, east of Liverpool.
Visitors are encouraged to wear masks and practice social distancing in services.
