Otley Vintage Transport Extravaganza is coming to town
ONE of the UK’s most popular one-day transport rallies takes place on Sunday 11 September from 10am-4pm at Knotford Nook, Pool Road, Otley.
Otley Vintage Transport Extravaganza, held 24 times at this venue, will see the assembly of nearly 600 vehicles and approximately 100 stalls.
As well as vehicles and stalls, there will be entertainment in the form of the Otley Brass Band, the City of Leeds Pipe Band, an accordion band as well as more current music from local artists and a fairground organ.
There will be birds of prey, Punch and Judy, reptiles, food trucks and a special visit from Ukrainian guests.
Councilor Nigel Francis, Chairman and Principal Organizer of the Otley Vintage Transport Extravaganza said: “I am delighted that many people are visiting our rally for the first time, especially our friends from Ukraine. I understand they are hoping to charter a double decker bus and come. We also hope they will have a few stalls with their items such as t-shirts, mugs, etc. and possibly food for people to try and donate to Ukraine. We at OVTE hope to donate funds for an ambulance for their country.
“Let me repeat that even at this late stage all displaced families in Ukraine are welcome and they will be admitted free of charge. If any local group would like to have a stand and raise funds for their country then they would be more than welcome .
“The real stars are the vehicles with classic cars from the last 100 years, trucks to turn back time, light-hearted advertisements to jog the memory, and push bikes and motorcycles of yesteryear.”
“This year we had to close all vehicle and pit entrances as they are full. This is the first time this has happened in the history of the rally,” added committee member Callum Francis.
Adult entry: £5, reduced price: £4. Free for children under 14 accompanied by an adult. Plenty of free parking is available and a Transdev A3 Flyer bus will depart from Otley Coach Station at 9.30am and hourly thereafter via Pool Road. There is a bus stop outside the pitch so people can leave their car at home and bus to the event.
