Busy mom controls the chaos with her clever tricks

The mom, who works in the garage administration, has come up with some quick tips to save time every day, even on busy school mornings.

She vows to use a family chart to keep track of everything – but admits “organization is key” as a mother of four.

Sarah, who is mom to eight-year-old Scarlett, Matilda, Oscar and Esme, six and three-year-old twins, said the key was to plan ahead and be as organized as possible.

The family of six said the week can seem chaotic at times – but also a lot of fun.

Sarah said, “The quick routines and tips that save me time every day boil down to planning.

“The key to saving time is of course to be organized and to plan ahead. I do my best before to save time during the day.

“We should not underestimate what a child can do from a young age and we allow them to do practical and safe things themselves.

“We have a very similar routine every day so everyone knows their job and can just jump in and do it. A house with four children is a bit of chaos but also a lot of fun!

As her children grew up, they were able to help Sarah with more tasks.

For example, she asks 8-year-old Scarlett and 6-year-old Matilda to help their younger siblings.

Sarah, who shares her life as a mom with her 5,500 Instagram followers, uses a number of hacks to save her hours in her chaotic day.

She has had four children in four years and loves to share insight into their family adventures, outings, ideas for games and everyday life online.

Sarah said: “There are a few basic things that I do every day that make things go well. I always prepare breakfast on the table so that it is accessible to everyone.

“Then they just have to pick some cereal and get themselves a glass of water or milk and they can eat while I get ready or sort something else.

“I also always make packed lunches the night before and put them in the fridge for each child to pick up when we’re ready to go. “

Sarah also revealed that she puts toothpaste on each of her children’s toothbrushes in the morning – this quick trick takes less than a few minutes to do, but it has a nifty trick.

This means she can tell who actually brushed their teeth by looking in the bathroom in the morning.

Another easy tip Sarah swears is to prepare clothes for each child every night, for the next day.

She said: “Big girls have their uniforms hung on connected hangers so they can just get dressed when washed and ready.

“The twins help choose the clothes the day before, it also allows me to direct them to all the items I want for kindergarten or the day for example.

QUICK TIPS FROM SARAH FOR PARENTS OF FOUR OR MORE CHILDREN

  • Arrange children’s clothing on the floor in order or on a hanger the day before
  • Have a table to follow
  • Do everything for all the kids at the same time – line up their toothbrushes and use the one in the bath, one way to clean them all!
  • Be organized – pack bags, have separate bags for each class / activity and make everything easy to grab and take – it only takes a few minutes to get ready

“Their clothes are then laid out on the floor space of their bedroom in the shape of a person so they can just pick up things and get dressed.

“They’ve been dressing since they were about two years old!”

The mom of four also takes note of the saying “not preparing is preparing to fail” – she does a lot of things in advance because it always saves her time on a busy morning.

She also likes to have clothes and items for organized activities – so she has bags just for the gym kit and swimming ready to go.

Once everything has been washed and dried, it takes two minutes to put them in their designated bags so they’re ready for the next time – grab and go!

Sarah said: “One of my biggest tips for a family or a large family is to always do one load of laundry per day (if you have a full load of course, we don’t want to waste water and electricity).

“It’s something that I actually find easier as a large family because there is always enough wash of each color to do one load per color.

“I also often dress the children in a coordinated or matching way, because it really makes washing easier!

“When it comes to leaving home, I always try to leave earlier than expected to account for delays.”

It also gives each child a job, something to do, or something to carry to the car. It aligns very close to the door that should accompany them – to make it very simple and effective.

Plus, she swears to use lists – savvy mom uses them for groceries, items for going out, to-dos and their daily routine.

She even gives her two older children set hours to complete chores – which they can keep track of using their children’s watches to set timers – she says it’s a quick and easy method of getting things done. quickly, without being distracted.

Sarah added, “By staying organized and having a place, kids learn and will put things back in the right place.

“Of course they’re all young and we’re still working on this because no family can be perfect. Life is stressful sometimes, but the fun and joy is so much more.

“Some things are easier with more than one child, while others are more difficult, but there is no right or wrong way to do anything – just your way!

“I find washing easy because I always have enough of the same color to do it daily; clothes can easily be shared if they are neutral and passed on, which also saves money.

“It’s great that the older siblings can teach the little ones and help them too. We also use graphics from Busbybusybooks which we check off when a task is complete and they get a star down for completion. They love it! “
