Holidaze 2021: Better to Give: Where to Buy Local This Holiday Season | Gift Guide

It’s that time of year again: the holidays are here! And the staff at Tucson Weekly are ready to help you find unique local gifts for everyone on your list. Take a look and support the local stores while you shop!

Add bikes, 1301 E. Chemin Ajo. Whether you are looking for a new bike, a tune up for your wheels, or just some nifty accessories like Christmas stockings, Ajo Bikes is the place to look. With friendly service and trained technicians, they will make your head spin on Christmas Day. This store also specializes in the recumbent three-wheelers you see on the road, so if you’re looking for something a little different, you’ll want to shop here.

Chic cupboards, 2010 N. Forbes Blvd. If you can’t seem to organize yourself, Classy Closets is the place to turn. You will benefit from a free in-home consultation with a specialist who can design a new storage space adapted to your needs, with your own personalized materials. Before you know it, all this mess will be a ghost of Christmas past and you can finally find this Diane Von Furstenberg dress when it’s time to go out on New Years Eve.

Save me Marana. Tucson Premium Outlets, 6401 W. Marana Center Blvd. If you’re looking for a new family pet, you should check out Rescue Me Marana, a new boutique dedicated to finding new homes for stray and unwanted pets. You will find everything you need to bring a new family member into your home, including the necessary accessories to keep their life happy.

Blue willow, 2626 N. Campbell Ave. Blue Willow’s little gift shop has unique gifts for all ages as well as a fantastic selection of cards. Best of all, while you shop there, you can take a break and have your breakfast or lunch on the beautiful terrace.

Philabaum Glass Gallery, 711 S. Sixth Ave. The extraordinary glassmaker Tom Philabaum may have retired, but the gallery that bears his name is as dynamic as ever. Here you will find fabulous works of glass art that will dazzle any friend or family member.

Tubac Arts Center. 9 Plaza Road, Tubac. If you’re on a road trip for your vacation shopping – or want to get away for a day trip if you’re lucky enough to have some free time – Tubac offers a wonderful getaway. With a huge collection of artist studios and boutiques, you’ll find all kinds of unique gifts, as well as a terrific state park and more.

Babylon Market, 3954 E. Speedway Blvd. If you have someone on your list who loves to cook or just loves food, then it’s worth taking a trip to Babylon Market to see what you can find. For a last minute treat to bring to a party, you can’t go wrong with their fresh baklava. Their selection of teas is enough to get the loose leaf enthusiasts in your life singing. And, for the chef in your life, honestly, you can’t go wrong offering them a selection of spices or sauces to try in new recipes. A Weekly staff member who is an amateur cook calls their spice section “downright exciting”.

Harlow Gardens, 5620 E. Pima St. Do you know any plant lovers? Or maybe just someone who you think needs to learn a bit more about responsibility and caring for a low-stakes living being? Give plants as a gift! A living flowerpot lasts so much longer than a bouquet, herbs are a perfect companion for the flowering chef in your life, and a cactus is the perfect choice for a low-maintenance friend looking for a low maintenance companion. Honestly, just taking someone to Harlow Gardens – a colorful wonderland of plants, pottery, and garden art – would be a great gift in and of itself. Add a succulent and you’ll be hailed as the best gift in town.

The Ninth House, 2563 E. Fort Lowell Road. Is a member of your family interested in everything related to tarot, crystal and nature? We recommend that you check out The Ninth House to find the perfect gift for your metaphysical friend. This witch shop updates its inventory weekly to include local artists, vendors, and international authors. If you are new to the metaphysical world, the sales people in the store are very knowledgeable and can even give you an astrological reading if you dare to ask. We recommend you check out their collection of quirky books and their Feel Good Flower Tea.

Fox Tucson Theater, 17 W. Congress St. There are all kinds of great holiday shows coming up in the crown jewel of downtown theaters, including An Irish Christmas (December 10), Mariachi Sol De Mexico’s “Mariachi Christmas” (December 9) and In the Holiday Mood: A Holiday Music Spectacular (December 18). They will also present films such as “A Christmas Story” (November 28) and “Jingle All the Way” (December 12). Plus, there are plenty of other big shows coming up with Lindsey Buckingham (December 5), Robert Cray (December 11) and comedian Tom Papa (January 8). So whether you want to get into the Christmas spirit or just want to have a fun night out, the Fox is the place to be.

The Cinema Loft, 3233 E. Speedway Blvd. Unfortunately, you probably can’t buy your loved one (or mom or uncle or best friend) the entire Loft Cinema this year – and we wouldn’t want you to, anyway! It is a place that wants to be shared by the community. But a Loft membership really is the gift that continues to deliver. Did you know that members can watch a free movie every month? And that they get free popcorn every time they go? (Every time!) And that comes with bragging rights that include unlimited use of the word “cinephile” as a self-descriptor. If you’re looking for something even flashier, you might consider paying to post a message on the Loft’s marquee for $ 100 per day. And if you’re looking for something more affordable, try a neat Loft T-shirt.

How vintage it was, 424 E. Sixth St. There is a huge selection of thrift and vintage stores here in Old Pueblo, and you can’t go wrong in most of them. But we love this one, located just off Fourth Avenue and packed with unique antiques and vintage clothing. They have an exceptional selection of clothing, jewelry, and accessories that are well organized and fun to sort through, making it easy to find gifts for loved ones and ideas of what to say when people ask you what you want for. Christmas this year. .

Pet Photoshoot with Candice Eaton Photography. As pet experts (which means some of us have pets), this is one of the best gifts you can give for the animal lover in your life. Candice Eaton is a photographer who has developed a
specialty in wildlife photography, and she’s damn good at it. Just check out her website to see some of the pretty photos she has captured. She even has a photo in her portfolio in which she captured EIGHT dogs, almost all wearing birthday hats, sitting motionless in front of birthday cupcakes with lit candles. Is she a wizard? Probably! She also doesn’t set a time limit on her shoots – she’ll take the time to snap photos for as long as it takes to get a ton of great photos, even of the squirreliest of pets. She does studio shoots, outdoor shoots and lifestyle shoots, both single animals and pets with their owners. Make it reserve!

Native seeds / RESEARCH, 3061 N. Campbell Ave. This non-profit organization has been dedicated to protecting agro-biodiversity through seed conservation for over 30 years. After all, these seeds represent the cultural and agricultural knowledge of generations of native and immigrant communities. So from the start, you support a good cause. You can purchase vegetable, grass, bean, or flower seeds for the gardener on your list from the store’s plentiful selection. While you’re there, you can pick up a piece of art, jewelry, or basketry created by a member of the Indigenous community.

The Scented Leaf, several locations. The next time you stop by The Scented Leaf for one of their draft teas, you might as well pick up a few gifts for your friends and family. If you know your friend’s tea taste, you can treat them to something they’ll definitely love, but that’s still very unique. If you’re not sure, you can go for one of their bestsellers, like prickly pear rooibos, honey vanilla nectar, or Earl Gray cream (the latter is our favorite!) And l One of Scented Leaf’s sample packs makes a great gift even for those who don’t like tea. After a few cups of Scented Leaf, they will be!
