Garvagh Show This Weekend – Alpha Newspaper Group

The GARVAGH Clydesdale and Vintage Vehicle Club show makes a welcome return split over two dates.
This Saturday, September 3, there will be tractors, cars, motorcycles, steam engines and an exhibition of pets with the usual stalls, musical entertainment and activities for children.
On Saturday September 10, the Clydesdale horse competition will take center stage for just one year, due to a clash with the European Plowing Championships.
The Clydesdale Show has been around for 20 years and is the biggest show in Northern Ireland.
Judging will begin at 10:30 a.m. with the ever-popular broodmares and colts. Most of these young colts will make their debut in the ring.
Riding lessons for Clydesdales have been introduced in recent years and are truly spectacular. Young novice horses will compete for a special shield from the society.
The Junior Handler classes are always hotly contested as the winner will qualify to compete at the Royal Highland Show in Edinburgh next year.
Last year, Craig Hanna won this award and won the Supreme Championship titles in Scotland.
Clydesdales rides are always popular and there will be farm wagons, stallion wagons and four wheel wagons.
The highlight of the show will be the Grand Parade along Main Street led by Glebeview and Millcottage Clydesdale.
