Four-day Panaji City Carnival kicks off in Goa

Panjim (Goa) [India], Feb. 26 (ANI): The Panaji city carnival kicked off on Saturday with a colorful traditional parade that passed through the streets of Panaji along the serene Mandovi River. The annual carnival will end on March 1.
According to the press release issued by the Carnival, Emiliano Dias, dressed as the mystical character “King Momo”, traditionally considered part of the Carnival, presided over the parade of floats.
Samba Square buzzing with fun activities included a game center and an art station.

“A specially created pop-up library, craft-related activities and a book sales counter are open to all children from the age of 5. In addition to the activities, there was also a book counter which will present books selected by Indian publishers,” reads the official statement.
A Stray Dog Adoption Zone has also been set up by Animal Assist and Rescue for individuals to encourage citizens to adopt stray dogs and give them homes.
Meanwhile, local boy Bongisio lit up the stage at Mandovi Promenade with his kind of Konkani rap as the audience beat to the beats.
On Sunday, the city of Panaji will witness a vintage car rally which will be signaled from Samba Square. Proud owners of some of Goa’s best maintained and classiest vintage cars will take to the streets to proudly drive their vehicles around the city.
To set the mood for the evening, bands Forefront, The Jam, Uzo and Black will perform throughout the evening. Food stalls will whip up an array of culinary delights and beverages throughout the day. (ANI)
