Classic cars ply the Saanich Peninsula ahead of Father’s Day – Oak Bay News
It was a hot day for the hot rods to hit the road and visit the retirement homes in Greater Victoria before Father’s Day.
About 40 cars traveled the Pat Bay Freeway from Parkland High School in North Saanich through Sidney and ended at Kensington Retirement Home in Victoria on Saturday June 19. Amica Beechwood Village, SHOAL Center for Independent Living, Norgarden and Berwick House along the way.
It was nice to be able to show rides that existed when their audiences were young decades ago, said organizer Rose Root. “There was a lot of variety. We had seen old classics, new hot rods, muscle cars. Wide variety.”
According to organizer Brook Morneau, the passage by car had gone from the show-n-shine parking lot initially planned since February following changes to public health guidelines.
“We saw a wonderful turnout of cars taking advantage of the great summer weather,” said Root.
