Algonac-Clay Historical Society to Host 11th Annual Craft, Vendor and Automotive Show – The Voice
The Algonac-Clay Historical Society’s 11th Annual Craft, Vendor and Classic Car Show is scheduled for August 13th.
The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Clay Township Park, located at 4710 Pointe Tremble Road. Proceeds will go to the Algonac-Clay Historical Society.
Registration for the auto show will begin at 9 a.m. The show will include a raffle, 50/50, food and music.
There will also be a bake sale, featuring homemade baked goods from members of the historical society and Mary the Pierogi Lady, said historical society member Paula Burgess. The expanded shop of Algonac-Clay Historical Society logo merchandise will be open with hats, shirts and more.
Additionally, tickets will be sold for the Historical Society’s 2022 Larger Than Life Raffle.
The raffle is one of the historical society’s major fundraising events. Only 300 tickets will be sold at $100 each for a first prize of $10,000, a second prize of $3,000 and a third prize of $2,000. If all tickets are not sold, the raffle will become 50/50.
“This year we are working to raise funds to begin much needed repairs to the exterior of the Maritime Museum,” Burgess said.
Winners will be selected at the CAHS Annual Spaghetti Dinner, which will take place at 7:00 pm on October 25 at the St. Catherine Activity Center in Algonac.
Burgess said last year’s craft, vendor and classic car show was “wonderful”, with many people stopping and buying goods and enjoying the Clay Township park. She noted that there were 32 artisans and vendors and 50 cars present.
She previously said she helped a group of ladies from Curves organize an event in April 2010 at Clay Township Park with 54 artisans and vendors. Proceeds supported the American Cancer Society.
In the summer of 2013 she joined the fundraising committee of the Algonac-Clay Historical Society and the event has been held in August for the past 10 years with proceeds going to the Historical Society of Algonac-Clay. In 2019 the event started with vintage cars.
Burgess said organizers are always looking for people interested in participating in the craft and vendor sale or car show. The cost is $20 for a large space to install the merchandise and $10 for the cars.
